From September 5 to October 24, the thematic exhibition “The Opposite of Beauty" is held in the Periodical publications reading room (106).
Beauty requires sacrifice. Every day, a large number of teenagers and young people are guided by this assumption, attempting to "fit" their physical appearance to the norms of appearance prescribed by public opinion... However, the ideal remains unrealistic, self-esteem suffers, and the body suffers from a major condition: eating disorders. How do bulimia and anorexia connect to self-esteem, why do they develop, and is there a potential that traumatic experiences can be overcome? The periodicals "Healthy Lifestyle," "Military Medicine," and "Medical Journal" all cover related topics.
Eating disorders are extremely important in clinical medicine as well as in society as a whole. The illness typically develops throughout adolescence and has major physical and mental health effects. The challenges of forming children's, teenagers', and young people's eating habits are discussed in articles published in the publications "News of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus," "The People's Newspaper," "Healthy Lifestyle," and others.
You can learn what is dangerous about fasting and dieting from articles in the newspaper "The Belarussian Time," magazines "Health," and "Hearth and Home," as well as how to break the habit of stress eating and love yourself.
In total, the exhibition presents about 30 periodicals.
The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
