The jubilee exhibition "Art of Thought," honouring the 75th birthday of the Belarusian ballet master and choreographer Valentin Nikolaevich Elizariev, is on display from September 22 through November 21 in the Hall of Musical and Audiovisual Documents (room 305).

Valentin Yelizariev is renowned both within Belarus and much beyond its borders as a People's Artist of the USSR and Belarus. In addition to winning the main prize for the best contemporary choreography at the 7th International Ballet Competition in Moscow, V. N. Yelizariev also received the "Benois de la Danse" award from the International Association of Choreographers and the title of "Best Choreographer of the Year" for his choreographic work on the production of the ballet "Passion" by A. Mdivani.

The distinct particular style, which mixes emotion and reason, tradition and invention, and poetry and philosophy, attests to the unrivalled talent of a superb choreographer. Based on the ambiguity and multidimensionality of the choreographic imagery, the end-to-end evolution of the action, choreographic symphonism, and the use of philosophical topics, analogies, and associations, Valentin Nikolaevich created a new sort of ballet theatre. Valentin Yelizariev asserts that "Ballet is the art of thought," highlighting the fact that "thought holds the most significant place in ballet, making dance an intellectual art."

The exhibition includes photo albums titled "Valentin Elizariev. A report from the Present," "The Creation of the World," and "The Nutcracker," books titled "Valentin Yelizariev: artist and Man" by Irina Milto and "The Phenomenon of Valentin Yelizariev" by Inessa Pleskachevskaya, a documentary titled "Belarusian Ballet. History," as well as shows, interviews, and articles from periodicals dedicated to the life and work of the famous choreographer.

The opening hours of the exhibition corresponds to the library’s opening hours.
Entrance to the exhibition is available by the library ticket or ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
