The Book Museum hosted the opening of the exhibition “100 antiques: from historical book collections to modern art books” on May 26
The exhibition is dedicated to the history of the foundation of the National Library of Belarus and shows the most significant and valuable examples of the Belarusian and world book heritage accumulated over 100 years.

The collection of the main library of the country today has more than 10 million copies. In this wealth of knowledge, the collection of manuscripts and printed publications of the XV – early XXI centuries stands out for its uniqueness, which began to form simultaneously with the establishment of the library in 1922. It is based on former magnate and gentry libraries, library collections of various institutions, private book collections of famous figures of culture, art, science, etc.

The exhibition "100 antiques: from historical book collections to modern art books" introduces visitors to collections of manuscripts, incunabula, palaeotypes, old printed books of the XVI-XVIII centuries, rare books of the XIX-early XXI centuries.

The exhibition reflects the evolution of books and library collections. Here you can see books on various materials: starting with clay tablets, palm leaves, parchment and ending with paper; and books of various forms – from a scroll to a codex. A number of copies are on display for the first time.

The Exhibition will run at the Book Museum (room 347) until December 31, 2022.
The closing date can be changed.
