A grand opening of the exhibition, presentation of the work of modern fine and book art, the art book Jason took place in the Book Museum on January 25 at 4 p.m.
The unique edition was the result of a joint project by the Belarusian graphic artist and member of the Belarusian Union of Artists, Fiodar Shurmialiou, and the Greek poet and collector Christos Giannakos.
The book focuses on the ancient Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts' voyage for the Golden Fleece. The artist reinterprets ancient Greek mythology in the complex technique of etching. The book contains eight poems and eight etchings, printed on Italian Fabriano paper. Silk thread has been used for the binding and handmade French marbled paper has been used for the flyleaves.
It took more than a year to create the Jason art project. Only 20 copies of the book have been published.
The exhibition features the book itself, eight separate etchings and their matrices.
The exhibition will be on show in the Book Museum (room 347) until February 28, 2022.
The end date is subject to change.
The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the opening hours of the Book Museum.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.
