"Overcoming Stigma": Exhibition to World AIDS Day

An exhibition "Overcoming Stigma", timed to coincide with World AIDS Day (December 1) is on show on November 30.

The exhibition includes the winning entries, as well as additional prizes from the national competition "Forming tolerant attitudes towards people living with human immunodeficiency virus. Overcoming stigma and non-discrimination." The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus held the competition.

The authors of the entries are pupils, students, housewives, economists, managers, doctors and others from all over Belarus. The youngest entry is 10 and the oldest entry is 52.

The exhibition will be supplemented with reference, scientific, popular scientific literature and articles from periodicals of the National Library of Belarus, dedicated to current issues of human immunodeficiency virus, modern tactics of treatment, as well as socio-psychological, moral and legal aspects of HIV infection.

The exhibition will raise awareness of the problem, dispel myths and eradicate misconceptions about the disease.

Organized by the National Library of Belarus and the Republican Centre for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
Admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.

The exhibition will run until February 1, 2022, in the "Mobile" Gallery (3rd floor).
The end date is subject to change.

Jason Art-Book


A grand opening of the exhibition, presentation of the work of modern fine and book art, the art book Jason will take place in the Book Museum on January 25 at 4 p.m.

Great Talent, Great Work, Big Heart 2022


From January 17, a literary and visual exhibition is on show in the circular corridor of the 2nd floor. The exhibition is dedicated to the winners of the prize For Spiritual Revival, a special prize of the president of the Republic of Belarus to people of culture and art, as well as a special prize of the president of the Republic of Belarus Belarusian Sports Olympus for 2021.

With a Soul Full of Sunshine


A book and visual exhibition "With a Soul Full of Sunshine", dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the birth of the French painter Édouard Manet (1832–1883) is on show in the Fine Arts Reading Room (room 306) from January 14 to February 9.

The Wizard of the Folk Song


The exhibition "The Wizard of the Folk Song" is on show in the Music and Audiovisual Documents Reading Room (room 305) from January 12 to February 12, timed to coincide with the 130th anniversary of the birth of the Belarusian choral conductor and folklorist Ryhor Shyrma (1892–1978).

Under the Pure Sky of Christmas


On 12 January, Kupalinka Folklore Group, led by the People's Artist of Belarus Aliena Cialkova, performed a Christmas programme for the staff of the National Library.

The Forerunner of Belarusian Science


The Belarusian Literature Reading Room (room 205) hosts the exhibition "The Forerunner of Belarusian Science" from January 11 to February 28, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Institute of Belarusian Culture (Inbelkult), the first diversified research institution in the history of Belarus, the predecessor of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.
