The Mobile gallery (3rd floor) hosts the grand opening of the exhibition “Unforgettable: Plays and Films about the War” on June 17 at 4 p.m.
The exhibition will present a panorama of cinema and theatre art about the Great Patriotic War from the collections of the National Library of Belarus and the Russian State Library of Arts; the names of films and plays, the names of actors and directors, years of premieres, plots of films and plays will be recalled. The visitors will see how the events of the war years were reimagined and experienced.
The audience will find exclusive photographs and materials about legendary and beloved films and plays: “Two Soldiers”; “Wait for Me”; “The Ballad of a Soldier” as scripted by the Air Force Headquarters Commander V. Yezhov; “Come and See” based on the script of the partisan A. Adamovich; "The Sign of Trouble" based on the novel by V. Bykau; "I Will Take Your Pain" based on the novel by I. Shamiakin; the legendary performance by Y. Lyubimov in "The Dawns Here Are Quiet" based on the story of the front-line soldier B. Vasiliev and staged at the Taganka Theatre, etc.
The exhibition will introduce scripts for films, photographic documents, articles from periodicals about the activities of Belarusfilm in the war and post-war periods. Encyclopaedias, popular science literature, rare photographs from the collections of the National Library will tell about the activities of Belarusian theatres during the Great Patriotic War and in the post-war period.
The National Library of Belarus and the Russian State Library of Arts organized the event.
Admission is free on the event day. On other days, admission is by the library card or by the Social and Cultural Centre ticket.
The exhibition will be on show until September 15, 2021.
