The National Library of Belarus presents the exhibition named Return, it's dedicated to the heritage of Khreptovichy Counts - the estate in Szczorsy.
The family estate of the famous family is a partially preserved monument of the manor and park architecture of the XVIIIth century. A place with a rich history, real pride of the Belarusians. In the 1770s, on the orders of Joachim Khreptovich, Giuseppe de Sacco, Spampany and Jacob Gabriel worked on the creation of the palace complex with a large park and ponds. In the XIXth century, the family estate was an important cultural center with a famous collection of art objects and a famous library. Adam Mickiewicz, Vladimir Syrokomlya came here, and Jan Chechot worked as a librarian for some time.
Several buildings and the remains of the park have survived to our days. The estate is included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Values of the Republic of Belarus.
The exhibition named Return presents paintings, sketches, watercolor sketches - the results of three open-airs that took place in the estate Szczorsy. Artists sought to recreate the appearance of the complex, its surroundings and buildings in such a way as if they were not affected by time.
The goal of the exhibition project is to support the reconstruction of the complex. To restore and fill the former library and collections of the Khreptovichy family, to recreate the estate and the park - at least for the period of the exhibition, figuratively and in imagination.
The exhibition will open on January 23 at 5 p.m. in the Labyrinth Gallery (3rd floor).
Admission is free on the opening day. On other days - admission is by library card or by the ticket of the library's social and cultural center.
The exhibition runs until February 19, 2020.
