“Reflection about Human,” an exhibition timed to the 85th anniversary of the Belarusian writer Ivan Chigrinov (1934–1996), is open in the Belarusian Literature Room (205), from December 20 to January 13.

The writing of Ivan Chigrinov is a bright page in modern Belarusian prose. The writer’s stories and novels are distinguished by realism, deep penetration into the inner world of a person, attention to the life of ordinary people, understanding of their daily troubles, and high artistic skill. A significant part of the writer's creative heritage is works devoted to the events of the Great Patriotic War. This makes sense as the author himself belonged to the generation of “children of war.”

The exhibition presents the main works that, during the author’s life, had gained wide popularity, as well as the first collections of prose, selected works, etc.

Ivan Chigrinov was also a journalist, critic, and the author of TV scripts and monographs. Collections of Chigrinov’a journalistic and critical articles, as well as his diary notes, essays, interviews and autobiography are on display.

The writer's works translated into Russian, English, Bulgarian, Armenian, Arabic, French and other languages are placed in a separate section.

The exposition also features memoirs of Ivan Chigrinov’s friends, books about his life and work, social activities as the chairman of the Belarusian Cultural Foundation, as well as publications of literary critics published in encyclopedias, collections, magazines, etc.

In total, about 120 publications are presented.

The opening hours of the exhibition correspond to the library’s opening hours.
