The National Library of Belarus and the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus have opened the new season of interactive public  lectures “Belarusian Music in the World's Art.”

On Christmas Eve, we will talk about the features of the celebration of the winter solstice in the south-western part of Belarus, in particular, in Brest and Pinsk regions. You will learn more about the interweaving of pre-Christian and Christian songs and get acquainted with photos and videos of Christmas rites.


Free admission (a library card or a ticket of the library's social and cultural center are required).

From 17 May to 14 June, the Documents of international organizations reading room (No 207g) will host a theme exhibition "Smoking or Health – you are to Choose!" dedicated to World No Tobacco Day.

Creating Fairy Tales by Paintbrush


From May 5 to June 12, the Documents on Art reading room (No 306) is launching the book and illustrative exhibition "Creating Fairy Tales by Paintbrush", dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of the Russian artist Viktar Vasniatsow (1848–1926).

Music from the Heart


From March 2 to April 21, the Musical and audiovisual documents reading room (No 305) is hosting the exhibition "Music from the Heart", dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the notable Russian composer, pianist and conductor Siargej Rachmaninaw (1873 – 1943).

Anthem of Poetry and Songs


The jubilee exhibition "Anthem of Poetry and Songs" honours the 85th birthday of renowned Belarussian cultural worker Vladimir Karyzna, is on display from May 3 to June 7 at the Belarusian Literature reading room (No 205) in Minsk.
