The Book Museum of the National Library of Belarus (room 347) invites you to get acquainted with the best examples of typography and manuscripts published over the centuries in different corners of the world.

The permanent exhibition and expositions held in the museum reflect the reach history of the Belarusian and European book culture and the path of formation and development of the country's main library.


At the exhibition you can see the gems of the book collection of the National Library of Belarus:

  • different handwritten books (scrolls, pothi, codes) made from various materials (palm leaves, parchment, bamboo tablets, paper);
  • first printed books, from the first experiments of Johannes Gutenberg from the 1440’s till the end of the 15th century;
  • masterpieces of the Belarusian typography of the 16th – 18th centuries, created by Francysk Skaryna in Prague, Pyotr Mstislavets and the Mamonich brothers in Vilnius, Maxim of Vashchenko in Mogilev, the Radziwills in their Brest and Nesvizh typographies, as well as old printed editions from Kutein, Suprasli, Grodno, Polotsk, etc.;
  • books printed by famous publishing masters of Europe of the 15th – 18th centuries;
  • samples of ancient icon settings and owner's bindings of the 15th – 20th centuries, miniature editions and folios, as well as books with autographs of Belarusian and foreign writers and artists.

In the Book Museum there are tours for children and adults, and the "Book Professors' Club" which organized classes for children and adults.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10.30 a.m.–7 p.m.
Thursday, Saturday, Sunday: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Monday– the day off.

The summer work time (from July 1st to August 31st):

Monday, Thursday, Saturday: 10 a.m.–6 p.m.
Sunday – the day off.

Belarusian Scientists, Participants of the Great Patriotic War


An exhibition dedicated to Belarusian scientists who participated in the Great Patriotic War has been organized in the Scientific Reading Room (room 206) on the occasion of the Day of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders from 2 to 15 July.

A thematic exhibition "People Are Not For Sale!" dedicated to World Anti-Trafficking Day is on show at the Official Documents Service Department (207) from July 14 to August 31.

A thematic exhibition "By Force of Habit: Edges of Addiction" is on show in the Periodicals Reading Room (room 106) from July 5 to August 25.

Monumental Art at the National Library


The opening of the exhibition "Monument" will take place in the gallery "Labyrinth" (3rd floor) on July 6 It is held as part of the National Festival of Monumental Art.

On the Road of Light


Anniversary exhibition "On the Road of Light" dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Belarusian composer Alina Biezienson is on show in the Music and Audiovisual Documents Reading Room (room 305) from June 25 to July 21.

Drugs: a Problem of a Person and Society


A thematic exhibition dedicated to the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is on show in the Documents of International Organizations Reading Room (room 207g) from June 24 to August 3.
