An electronic edition “Formation of the Belarusian Statehood: through the pages of Belarusian newspapers, 1917–1922” is to be presented on January 10.
The events, which happened one hundred years ago, dramatically changed the lives of many people around the world. Belarus had to choose its historical path as well.
Belarusian newspapers, founded in a difficult time of upheaval and change of government, had become a real chronicle of the Belarusian people, valuable primary sources and unbiased witnesses of the epoch.
Due to the increasing interest of scientists and the public to events of the time, it was decided to create an electronic information resource containing old newspapers from the collections of the National Library, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, and other organizations.
The offered e-publication consists of 2 CD, which feature electronic copies of about 2,400 issues of newspapers that appeared in this period both on the territory of modern Belarus and abroad (Warsaw, Vilnius, Vitebsk, Grodno, Mogilev, Minsk, Moscow, Smolensk etc).
All materials are in the Belarusian and Russian languages. The publication is designed for researchers, university teachers and students, graduate students, undergraduates, local historians, as well as anyone interested in the country's history.
The event starts at 16.00, "Labyrinth" gallery (3rd floor).
Free admission.
