September 17, 2013 Grodno hosted a scientific-practical conference "Library as a cultural and historical aspect of the country's development", dedicated to the 190th anniversary of the founding of the Grodno Regional Scientific Library named after E.F. Karsky. Director General of the National Library of Belarus R.S. Motulsky took part in the solemn event and made a welcoming speech to the participants.
September 18 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ms Raisa Simakova, a veteran of the National Library of Belarus, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a senior sergeant of medical service, a survivor of the Siege of Leningrad.
In September 1830, during one of the meetings with Grodno Governor General, the decision was made to establish a library in Grodno. It became the first public library in the contemporary territory of Belarus.
The 23rd issue of the collection of scientific articles "Zdabytki: Documentary Memories in Belarus" has been published.
