The National Library of Belarus invites everyone to The Information Treasures of Belarus. Vitebsk Region – an event which opens a whole series of activities dedicated to the information heritage of different regions of Belarus, their history and cultural achievements. This is a result of fruitful work of Belarusian libraries, archives, museums, scientific and educational institutions, and also local history-lovers who study, restore and promote the country’s information treasures.

The planned event is dedicated to the Vitebsk region, a land with an ancient and interesting history, spectacular scenery and authentic culture. The region has given the world a galaxy of well-known scientists, writers, artists and musicians. The influential scientific and art schools here formed, influential regional study developed, and talented historians worked – the real enthusiasts exploring their native land. This tradition successfully continues today.

In recent years, we have implemented a number of original projects for the collection and study of the Vitebsk region’s rich heritage. The most interesting of these multi-media and print publications and electronic online resources will be presented at the event.

Performances by renowned local historians, researchers, library and museum environments, historians and archivists, as well as musical compositions devoted to the native land are scheduled. Also, a thematic exhibition-review of information resources from the collection of the National Library about the Vitebsk region will run as part of the event.

The acquaintance with information treasures of other regions of Belarus is ahead, and now we are pleased to invite you to the first event, dedicated to the Vitebsk region.

The event has been prepared with the support of the Belarusian Library Association. See you at the National Library of Belarus!
