The presentation of the book "Khatyn. Tragedy of Belarusian People" was held on March 16 in the Library.

The book timed to the 75th anniversary was published by the Belorusskaya encyklopedia imeni Petrusya Brovki publishing house. The author of the book is Arthur Zelsky, director of the Khatyn memorial complex. He collected data about the village: from the XVI century to the last tragic day on March 22, 1943.

The publication also provides information on other settlements destroyed during the occupation, the symbol of which is the Khatyn memorial complex. 618 Belarusian villages shared the dramatic fate of Khatyn, some of which were restored in due course.

Vladimir Andrievich, Director of the Belorusskaya encyklopedia imeni Petrusya Brovki publishing house and Arthur Zelsky, Director of the Khatyn memorial complex, author of the book, gifted one of the copies of the publication to the National Library of Belarus.

Roman Motulsky, Director of the National Library of Belarus, expressed gratitude to the author, the publisher and all who are involved in the publication of such an important and valuable document aimed to preserve the people's memory of publication. In his speech he also stressed: "During presentations of books you can often hear that the author has summarized the previous materials and closed the topic. But Khatyn is not a closed topic. Khatyn is a symbol of the tragedy not only of the Belarusian people, but of all mankind, it is an alarming reminder about the value of peace and tranquility for the living and future generations".

Alexei Litvin, Head of the military history and interstate relations department of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and Evgeniya Poleschuk, Head of the ideological work, culture and youth affairs department of the Lahoysk regional executive committee also took part at the event.

The National Library of Belarus presented an exhibition-viewing of publications devoted to the tragic history of Khatyn. Emotional coloring of the event was created by musical performances by students of the Minsk State College of Arts.

Students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National library

On April 18, the students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music visited the National Library of Belarus as part of the environmental education and upbringing program. They got acquainted with the thematic book exhibition "Water is a wonderful gift of Nature" dedicated to World Water Day. The exposition is presented in the documents of international organizations reading room (room 207 g).
