On 14 January, 2014 the National Library of Belarus received a Certificate of Accreditation as a scientific organization.


A meeting of the Commission on Accreditation of scientific institutions took place on 18 December, 2013. At this event the Chairmen of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences and the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus accepted and approved the conclusion on the accreditation of the National Library of Belarus as a scientific organization.

According to clause 1 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus of October 21st, 1996, 708-ХIII “About scientific activity”, the accreditation of a scientific organization is a form of official recognition of the competence of a legal person in the performance of research, developmental and skilled-technological works which is held every five years. The accreditation can be given to a legal person carrying out research, developmental and skilled-technological works, one of which authorities, according to constituent documents, is a scientific (scientific and technical) council and which have received accreditation as a scientific organization in accordance with established procedure.

On April 24, 2024, at the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Rumyantsev Readings-2024" in Moscow, Olga Polunchenko, chief bibliographer of the Department of reference and Information Services, presented a report "The role of Adam Shanyavsky in organizing the library fund of the Nesvizh County School (the last quarter of the XVIII century)."
