“Novopolotsk is the cultural capital of Belarus in 2018” is the new information block about one of the youngest cities in the country, celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Novopolotsk is a major industrial center of the Republic of Belarus with the rich social and cultural infrastructure: there are 10 state cultural establishments, more than 35 art collectives of different genres with the status of "honored", "popular" and "exemplary".
Every year more than 3 thousand different events are held in the city. Many of them have already become branded. In 2011 Novopolotsk became the first town in Belarus to be awarded the honorary title "City, friendly to children". At the end of 2016, the town became the winner of the republican contest "City of Culture in the Year of Culture".
These and other interesting facts are published in the third issue of the bulletin New books: on the pages of the Belarusian press (“Новые книги: по страницам белорусской печати”) known in our country and abroad. The Bibliography Research department of the National Library of Belarus has prepared bibliographic material on the basis of the analysis of Belarusian publishing products over the past 10 years, giving an idea of the history, socio-economic development, architectural features, and rich cultural heritage of the city. The publication is addressed to library workers, teachers, teachers, students, guides, and will be useful to anyone who is interested in the history of Belarusian cities.
