On September 6, an exhibition of fonts and calligraphy by Vsevolod Sventohovsky "Skaryna’s letters and words" opens in the Library.

Books, magazines, advertisement, street signs, Internet space – words are everywhere! Eye-catching print fonts are often created to convey information. Maybe that's why the artistically written font admires by its beauty so much?...

The exhibition "Skaryna’s letters and words", dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing, acquaints with Vsevolod Sventohovsky's calligraphy, he is a Belarusian artist, working in book graphics and graphic design. Part of the presented works is "lettering" – an art form, in which images are created on the basis of letters and woven into a common harmonious composition. Author's development of fonts with visual elements – fantastic images and plant motifs attract attention.

A special place at the exhibition belongs to works made using digital printing, a series of sheets based on Francysk Skaryna’s fonts. Quotations of the first printer are stylized "Skaryna-style" – in the author's realization of Sventohovsky’s. The writing of a semi-dry pen creates the impression of the echoes of our great compatriot’s voice, a voice that is lost in the depths of time.

The vernissage begins at 15 o'clock in the gallery "Rakurs" (2nd floor).

It’s possible to visit the exhibition until November 20, 2017.

The end date of the exhibition can be changed.
