From March 2 to April 2 in Belarusian literature reading room (room 205) there is an exhibition "Inspiration of the Poetic Line" dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ales Bachyla, Belarusian poet, playwright, translator.

All materials presented in five sections of the exhibition fully reveals the life and creative path of the Ales (Alexander) Bachyla (1918-1983), honored cultural worker of Belarus.

Ales Bachylo graduated from the Belarusian Pedagogical Technical School and began to teach the Belarusian language and literature at school in 1934. Than he graduated from the Minsk Teachers' Institute in absentia. In the autumn of 1939, he was drafted into the Red Army, served until 1945. After the war, he worked in the Nastaunitskaya Gazeta newspaper, Litaratura i Mastatstva newspaper, Polymya magazine, and the Mastatskaya Litaratura publishing house. He is awarded the Order of the Patriotic War (II degree), the Order of the Red Star, the Order of the Badge of Honor, Friendship of Peoples and Medals.

The exhibition introduces the collections of Ales Bachyla's works, the book of selected works (Snezhnaya Balada), collections of poetry (Shlyakhi, Zory vyasennia, Yunatstva etc.) , a book of humorous poems (Cavaler Mikita), works for children, etc. The book of literary critical articles by A. Bachyla will be interesting for visitors.

Ales Bachyla is well known to readers as a songwriter too. Many of his poems are put on music due to their plot and melodiousness. Everyone has heard Radzima May Daragaya (music by V. Olovnikov) etc. He also wrote the libretto of the operas Jasnae svitanne (music by A. Turenkov), Zorka Venera and the operetta Paulinka (music by Y. Semenyako). Note sheets of Ales Bachilo’s works are presented in a special section of the exposition.

The publications that give an idea of ​​the writer's translation activities are also showed at the exhibition: Zalaty Klyuchyk, abo Pryagody Buratsina by A. Tolstoy, Taras Bulba by N. Gogol (with M. Posledovich), etc.

"Soldier's Fate": on the 100th anniversary of Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from Nazi invaders

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of the People's writer of Belarus, publicist and screenwriter Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov.
On this occasion, the National Library has prepared an anniversary exhibition "Soldier's fate", which highlights the great influence on the work of the Belarusian writer of his participation in the Great Patriotic War.
