Nikolai Prilezhaev
(27(15).09.1877 – 26.05.1944)

Russian and Belarusian organic chemist. Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1940), Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences (1933), Professor (1913), Director of the Institute of Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR (1931–1933).

He was born in the village of Koposovo, Nizhny Novgorod province, Russian Empire (currently the village of Koposovo, Nizhny Novgorod Region, Russian Federation).
